GastroCleanse contains psyllium husks (a dietary fibre), activated charcoal, Oregon grape root, chlorophyll, and apple pectin. The formula also contains vitamin C, and magnesium. Gastrocleanse can be used whilst following a detoxification protocol to help support optimal eliminations, as well as to support the binding of toxins. Studies show that dietary fibre is associated with increased gut microbiota diversity as well as promoting the production of short-chain fatty acids.
Psyllium seed husk is a source of soluble dietary fibre. This type of fibre is not digested or absorbed but rather passes through the gut supporting digestive health. Psyllium is used as a bulk-forming laxative. It works by increasing stool size and therefore helps relieve constipation it may also be used to control glycaemic response to a meal and beneficially reduce insulin and blood sugar levels.
Activated Charcoal is a broad spectrum binder for toxins, it can also be considered for digestive upsets. Pectin’s are substances called polysaccharides that are found mainly in the plant cells walls that pass digestion in the stomach and small intestine, apple pectin is a source of soluble fibre that forms a gel-like substance that can absorb toxins and ease bowel movements. Chlorophyll has been called the "blood" of the plant world, and has the same structure as the haem of blood (except that where the haem carries an iron mineral in the centre, the chlorophyll carries magnesium). Thus it may be beneficial in supporting blood quality, and it is a good source of magnesium. Chlorophyll can aid digestion by promoting the growth of friendly microbes in our digestive tract, as well as supporting a healthy bowel function.
Oregon grape root has typically be used for digestive stimulation, it has antimicrobial properties (anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-parasitic) and may relieve intestinal spasms.
